Nannie Gilley Poole, 93, of Bassett, VA passed away Monday, June 6, 2022, at her home. She was born May 7, 1929, in Patrick County, VA to the late Richard Lee Gilley and Margie Bowles Gilley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Malcolm Poole; and sisters, Dorothy Brumett and Ruth Goulett.
Mrs. Poole was a member of Semora Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was Chairman of the Hospitality Committee. She loved serving others and feeding them every day as she ran the lunch counter at Woolworths. She later retired from Bassett Walker as a seamstress.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Poole and Marty Poole (Angela); grandchildren, Edward Joseph Poole, Edward Matthew Poole, Amanda Ann Bryan, and Nicholas Taylor Poole; eight grandchildren; and sister, Sally Crumpton.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Minister David Deisher officiating. Burial will be private.
